Mormon Miracle Pageant

The Breakfast Josie Soderborg, Marylynn Thelin Wilde, Beverley Lowe
The Turkey Dinner. Bev, Josie,Ron, Jay and Marylynn
Ron and I travelled eleven hours to visit my cousins in Manti,Utah. We attended the Mormon Miracle Pageant. My brother Jay and his youngest son James and two of his grandchildren drove from Draper Utah,to see the Pageant with us.There were about 10,000 other people watching the pageant too. The site of the Pageant was on the steep Temple hill behind the Manti Temple. It was spectacular the Joseph Smith Story and the Mormon Trek across the plains and Christ visiting South America. I was very impressed when live Angel Moroni appeared on the top sphere of the Manti Temple. His robe was blowing in the breeze and he was blowing his trumpet. Lots of Angels were there singing to us. We all attended a lovely Turkey Steak dinner for $7.00 before the Pageant. We had reserved seats 15 th row from the front. The Pageant lasted two hours 9:30-11:30 pm.
The next morning we went for a delicious $ 4.00 breakfast two blocks from where we were staying, at the park put on by the Youth of the Stake.

Cancer update

Today I went to see my Doctor and she told me I was cancer free. I was elated and jumped for joy. Finally this is all over. I still have to regain my strength.

Our Family Doctors

Today two of our Grandchildren become Doctors. Eric became a Dentist. Kristyn became a Osteopathic Doctor or DO. We are very proud of their hard work to become Doctors. Here are some photos of them. I made the cute little Chocolate Grad hats with their yellow Tassels, they were the same as the real Grad Tassels.

Radiation Sickness

The Radiation sickness is finally gone after a month of suffering. I am feeling much better and improving in strength every day. I actually walked around the grocery store yesterday and became exhausted at the end of it all. I am so glad to over all this Radiation and Chemo. I will still have to have another MRI to see to the Cancer has melted away in a few months when the swelling and soreness is gone.

The After Effects

Keep smiling ,they say. It will all be over soon. Well I'm still waiting for the day when I have more energy. And not be exhausted from taking a shower, preparing breakfast, or doing anything. The cumulative affects from the radiation is going on each day. I sleep a lot trying to gain my strength back. It has been two weeks today since my last radiation treatment.

My Birthday 2012

Lemon Bundt cake

Today was my birthday and I celebrated in the Cancer Center. The Nurse decorated my bed with balloons and crepe paper streamers. On the Wall was Birthday Banner. The staff sang Happy Birthday to me. It was Radiation Day. So I spent the day there. Sarinah brought her family over for Cake. She made me a delicous Lemon Bundt cake. Tina brought Sweet and Sour Chicken and Rice for dinner which we enjoyed. It was a stormy night, the rain had poured down and the power went off. So when the family came we pulled out the kersone lamps and lit them along with many candles. The two little boys had fun running through the rain puddles on the patio. It was a night to remember.

The Bell Is Rung

Today is the last radiation treatment. Yeah!! I get to ring the 10 inch bell. This the tradition of MD Anderson Cancer Center. When someone finishes their treatment they read a poem and ring the bell three times. This is the poem I read.
Ring the Bell three times, when your done.
Soon you will be on your way.

All the Doctors and Staff gave me a great send off to better things happening with lots of hugs. This was to make sure I felt loved.
I also received my Graduation Certificate.

MD.Anderson Cancer Center

MD Anderson Cancer Center is known throughout the United States. head Office is in Houston, Texas. I have spent the last two months there getting treated with Chemotherapy and Radiation External and Internal.

Chemo and Radiation Days

I tried to smile all through this

Chris my Chemo Nurse

Chemo Day with my blankie to keep me warm

Radiation Techs

Strung up on the Radiation Table

I will start a low dose Chemo and Radiation to get rid of it. I had sudden wave of sadness come over me and tears in, but it didn't last long, because the Savior stepped in to comfort me when I needed it. Anxiety has been my worst fear I was hyperventilating last night over it all.Wondering how I will get through this trial? Ron said" what is wrong with you? Started Chemo every Monday for 10 hours.

Radiation Mon-Friday. Radiation lasted 20 minutes to a half hour.To prepare my body for Radiation I need to have my bladder up to 227-326 cc's od fluid. If it isn't full enough, to do the radiation I need to drink more and wait until it reaches my bladder. This important to get it right so they can shoot around my bladder and not hit it and damage my bladder. The Techs are great they build a mould out of a big piece of Styrofoam so my legs to be in the same position each time. I have to keep my arms raised high, while lying flat. This position cuts the feeling and circulation off in my shoulder so my shoulder gets numb and my hands. I have to keep them up to avoid my arms and hands getting radiation too.

Side effects I have had the first week were diarrhea, constipation, queasy, I found out that is the same as nausea. I took nausea pills for three days after the first Chemo. the next day I started back with the nausea. So I took more nausea meds. They make me very dizzy, and frontal headache. I can stand being dizzy rather than being nauseous.

I couldn't sleep last night so I wrote a poem about Chemo Day.

CHEMO DAY

Lying here so wide awake

For goodness sake.

Why can't I sleep?

Because,
I'm going to Chemo today.
To relax and enjoy the long day.

Watch a movie, eat lunch.

Get to see the whole bunch.

Chemo Fog is not for your dog.

It sure keeps you in Fog.

No fresh flowers, strawberries,

or gardening for me,and no tanning.

Lots of rest, good food, and lots of water.

will be the best.

To kick this cancer out door,

To never come back any more.
No multi tasking for me.

I focus on one thing at a time you see.

It slows me down,

But I'll soon be out on the Town.

Chemotherapy

I found out I have Cervical Cancer now, starting Chemo, April 2, 2012. April 4,2012, I started Radiation treatments. I go every day for radiation to my pelvis. Mondays all day for Chemo. It takes 10 hours to complete it on Mondays. I sit in an soft lounge chair, where I can watch T.V. or a DVD Movie, while I am getting infusions. I can read a book too in the spare hours. The Doctor gives you premeds to prevent any nausea. Side effects of them are Dizziness and Headache, which I have have since taking these meds. Free lunch is served each day, which I look forward too.

My Special Sister

My sister Julie came to visit for awhile. It was so wonderful to see her. We have had fun attending the cooking classes at a kitchen store. We learned how to make Chicken Alfredo Pizza, Carmel Apple Pizza. Both were very good. Also how to cook Salmon and Cheesecake in a Pressure Cooker. The next day I made a Chicken Alfredo Pizza it was delicious.

We saw the new Gilbert Temple under construction. It is going up very fast. To be finished next year. She also picked Arizona Oranges, from my daughter's orange tree. But she found out the lemons have long thorns on the tree when she tried to pick lemons. They are not easy or fun to pick.
We visited my daughter Sarinah for an afternoon. We had a great visit. Sorry to see Julie leave for home in Stanwood, Washington.

Visited Sarinah and family.
